2005 saw the development of an entirely new platform. Goals for this new car were a lower center of gravity, improved ergonomics, and better system integration. The 2005 car had many changes from the 2004 car and featured many new designs including an aluminum rear substructure or ‘rear box’ to house the double reduction final drive setup. The rear box also housed the custom dry sump oil pump, another new component for 2005. The team placed 9th out of 140 at the 2005 FSAE competition.Elected officers were Mark Stirnemann as Team Leader, Kyle Sampson as Chief Engineer, Prem Midha as Business Manager, and Kevin Arl as Secretary. The four group leaders were Nic Langford as Manufacturing Group Leader, Valarie Boatman as Powertrain Group Leader, Ben Wright as Development Group Leader, and Andy Clawson as Body/Aero Group Leader.Formula SAE Results: 9th Place Overall | |
