The UMR Formula SAE team was plagued by problems at the 2000 competition. The team still managed to place 50th out of 104 competing teams.
For the majority of the 2000 competition, it was cold, or raining, or both. On Wednesday was our technical inspection. It was here we discovered what a “continuous” roll hoop is defined as, when the technical inspectors determined that we couldn’t have a weld in our main roll hoop. We had to weld a piece of tubing over the welded area to satisfy the inspectors.
The 2000 team members were Dave Pugh (Team Leader), Mike Stock (Team Co-Leader), Josh Seaton (Chief Engineer), Jason Bone, Anthony Brandon, Dustin Brown, Scott Craig, Brad Davis, James Elterman, Dan Feighery, Matt Goska, Eric Grelle, Jeff Hoskins, Ben Rustemeyer, Mike Schaefer, and Doug Stroud.
